About TidyBoss

Free Home Maintenance Tools and Guides

TidyBoss builds free tools for the questions homeowners actually stop and search for — how old is this appliance, what filter does my furnace take, what should I be setting aside for maintenance — and backs them with guides that explain what the answer means. No paywalls, no account, no pitch.

Our Mission

TidyBoss was built around one problem: homeowners put off maintenance decisions until a small issue becomes an expensive emergency. According to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), neglecting routine maintenance can reduce a home's value by as much as 10% over time. A leaking gutter becomes water damage. A skipped furnace filter leads to an HVAC breakdown in the middle of winter. These are preventable problems, and the tools here exist to help you catch them early.

Most of that comes down to not knowing where you stand. You cannot judge whether a fifteen-year-old water heater is worth repairing if nobody ever told you it was fifteen years old. So the tools here start by establishing the fact, and only then talk about the decision.

Our approach is calm and supportive, not fear-based. We do not use scare tactics or pressure. Instead, we focus on one task at a time and let you go at your own pace. Home maintenance should feel like progress, not panic.

Our Content Approach

We take accuracy seriously. Every guide, tool, and recommendation on TidyBoss is built to give homeowners practical, trustworthy information they can act on.

Dated, So You Can Judge It

Every guide carries the date it was published and the date it was last reviewed. We do not restamp pages to look fresher than they are — if a guide has not been touched in a year, the date says so.

Cited from Trusted Sources

Our guides reference data and recommendations from established organizations including the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Practical and Actionable

Every piece of content focuses on what homeowners can actually do. We explain when you can handle something yourself, when to call a professional, and how to tell the difference.

Free with No Paywalls

All educational resources on TidyBoss are completely free. We believe every homeowner deserves access to reliable maintenance information regardless of budget.

"Routine maintenance on the major systems in a house can prevent costly emergency repairs and extend the useful life of components by years or even decades. Homeowners who follow a seasonal maintenance schedule are better prepared to protect their investment and avoid surprise expenses."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is TidyBoss?

TidyBoss is a free home maintenance site for homeowners. It publishes tools that answer a specific question — how old is this appliance, what filter does my furnace take, what should I budget for maintenance — alongside 36 guides written in plain language. Everything on the site is free and there are no paywalls.

Who is behind TidyBoss?

TidyBoss is an independent site, founded in 2025 and operated by 17231016 Canada Inc. Our content draws on published guidance from organizations including the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Each guide lists its sources at the bottom so you can check them yourself.

Is TidyBoss free?

Yes. Every guide, tool and comparison article on the site is free, with no paywalls and no account required. The site is funded by affiliate partnerships, which are disclosed on the pages where they appear — see our disclosure page for how that works.

How does the appliance age calculator work?

Manufacturers encode a build date inside the serial number, and every brand does it differently. The calculator applies the decoding scheme for the brand you pick and returns the month and year the unit was built. It then explains what that age means for that specific appliance — a fifteen-year-old dryer and a fifteen-year-old fridge are not the same decision.

Is the content on TidyBoss trustworthy?

We cite sources from organizations such as NAHB, NFPA, DOE, EPA, ASHI, and NAR. Our guides focus on practical advice grounded in established industry standards. We also include a sources section at the bottom of each guide so you can verify the information yourself.

Is TidyBoss available on Android?

TidyBoss is currently available on iOS only. An Android version is being considered based on user demand. In the meantime, all of our educational guides, interactive tools, and comparison articles are available for free on the TidyBoss website at mytidyboss.com from any device and any browser.
